A Reiki Symbol is a healing symbol which enhances the flow of Life Force Energy. Many Reiki Masters consider reiki symbols holy and persist in the old reiki tradition that they must be kept secret. Today there are many different forms of reiki and some have incorporated their own symbols in their initiations. The symbols have their own consciousness, and it is possible to meditate on each symbol individually and receive guidance on how the symbol must be used directly from the symbol itself. A reiki symbol is like a key that opens a door to a higher mind. You can also see it as a button, when you press the button you automatically get a result.
Cho Ku Rei
This is the power symbol. It is said that it increases reiki energy significantly. The reiki symbol draws energy from around you and focuses it where you want it to be. The meaning of this reiki symbol is “God and Man Coming Together” or “I have the key”. This reiki symbol is geared specifically for healing within the physical body.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen
This is the distance symbol. Using this reiki symbol you can send reiki across town, to other parts of the country or anywhere in the world. Using this reiki symbol you can also send reiki in the past,present or future. The meaning of this reiki symbol is “The God in me greets the God in you”.
Tam-A-Ra-Sha
This reiki symbol is the the balancing symbol. It grounds and balances reiki energy.
Sei He Ki
This reiki symbol is used for mental and emotional healing, clearing, balancing and protection. It is the reiki symbol for any sort of emotional or mental distress such as depression, anger, fear, sadness, etc. This reiki symbol can be used to enhance the effectiveness of affirmations, as it connects with the subconscious mind.
There is not a 100% right or wrong way to draw a reiki symbol. In todays world of reiki, there can be a great number of variations between the symbols taught by different masters. Reiki symbols have traditionally been shrouded with mystery and secrecy.
